The first post

In this blog I will be logging rather free form what I am doing and researching on the Green Light Development project.

I recently found out about derby . A new opensource database that is heavily supported by eclipse datatools project. The advantages are that it is pure java and has an embedable option.
This is appealing in addressing some of the issues with data migration from Legacy Green Light(LGL)

It also appears that eclipse will be providing good support for it in the up coming data tools project versions.

Yesterday I downloaded the plugins and am going to install them today.

I am also trying to see if I can get the legacy greenlight to run on linux so I dont have to keep messing with vmware to see and work with LGL.

Need to find a gui tool for db ui design. It looks like there is one but it costs money and I think they are working on one for the eclipse data project.

Also looking into using Google Web Toolkit (GWT). I hope it gives the best options for UI layout.

Thinkgs have been a little crazy at work so I haven't got done as much as I would like but the holidays may give me a little more time to work on it.
